There are many parcours de chasse National Championships and Grand Prix’s that you can enter locally. There are certain other events as well as the European and World Championship you must enter through the FITASC site. Since the launch of the new site a few days ago there have been a few minimal bugs that FITASC are aware of and are working to fix. Not to worry though, you can still enter events on the site. You just have to do it in the right order. Some people seem to have had trouble with the site for some reason though. So I decided to write this post for their benefit.
First you must create your shooters card. This is the first step and must be done or you will get nowhere. Your shooters card is how FITASC knows who you are, where you are from, what disciplines you compete in and what national association you belong to. I lay it out below with screen shots. A word of warning, when you begin the process of creating your shooters card DO NOT hit your browser back button. It will take you all the way out and you will have to start again. You will have the opportunity to correct information at the end.
- Go to www.FITASC.com and if the site is not in English click on the "UK English" flag in the upper right corner. Next click on the "Entry Championship" box highlighted red in the photo.
- Next you will be taken to a page with two options to register. Under the heading, "Create Your Shooters Card." you want to select the flag that represents your language. In this case the UK flag for English. At the bottom of the page you will also find a "Help" section.
- Next you will be taken to the "Identification" page. Here you fill in your Gender, Last name, First name, Email address and choose a password. If you do not have an email address already you can create one through the site in the blue shaded area on this page. Next there is a link to a "General Entry Conditions" .pdf file. Then you must click in the check box saying you have read the conditions and then click on the "Next Step" button on the lower right of the screen.
- Next you will be taken to a "Contact Details" page which is fairly self explanatory. The thing to note for Americans is to use the European style date format for your date of birth i.e. DAY/MONTH/YEAR. The current pop-up calender on there is in Greek or something and is a bit useless. I hope they fix it soon. When you are done click on the "Next Step" button.
- Next up is the "Federations & Licenses" page. It will auto-detect your national federations based on your previously entered data. Enter your membership or license number in the box then check off the disciplines you shoot. When you are done click on the "Next Step" button.
- Next will be information on your weapons and cartridges. This is probably more for marketing purposes than anything else. Still you must put something in then click on the "Next Step" button.
Finally you will be taken to a summary screen. At the bottom it has options to edit your information or to log on. Choose to log on and you have completed creating your shooters card.
Next you will be taken back to the home page except this time you will see your name in a box labeled "Identification" in the upper left corner. This indicates that you are logged in. You must be logged in to enter competitions and view some data on the site.
Next I think is where some confusion has been caused. In the list on this page you need to click on the name of the championship you wish to enter. In this case the Worlds in Laterina. When you do this sometimes the site flips back to French and no information shows. If this happens click on the "UK English" icon in the upper right corner of the site. You should see the competition presentation. More importantly when you click the "registrations" tab you should see the "General Entry Conditions" information. It looks like this…
At the bottom of this page, which is long, is a check box you must select to agree to the terms. When you check the box you will be taken to a page (which i will not show) where you can select your entry type and fees to be paid. Once you have done that click the button in the lower right to be taken to the bank page where you can pay your entry fees.
For future competitions it will be much easier to enter because you will have already created your shooters card. You will only need to log on with your email address and password then select the competition you wish to enter. It needs some small fixes but personally I really like the new site and think it is much improved over the old one. Kudos to FITASC for getting it done. All images and words of the FITASC site in this article are owned by them.
