Well looks like we broke the meter on this one.  An email from FITASC headquarters shows a record number of registrations were received in the first 24 hours for the 2012 World FITASC Championship.  They have just opened a new batch of places.  You better get in quick do not wait on this one!

On 9th January 2012 at 10am, the FITASC opened on its site the entries to the World Sporting Championship, that will take place as from next 16th August in the USA.

On 10th January 2012 at 10am, so within 24 hours, 452 shooters have signed in yet and paid their entry fees. Well done to all entrants  !

I wish to draw the attention of the National federations, as far as the booking for their teams is concerned, as the world championship is most likely to  be full very soon. Besides I thank you for informing your shooters of the situation.

This year the NSCA Team USA will be hosting two "Super Schools" to raise money for international competition expenses.  At these intensive schools you will have the opportunity to learn from eight of the best sporting shots in the game.  Shooters like Brad Kidd, Bill McGuire, Zach Kienbaum, Gebben Miles, Dan Carlisle and more will be instructing.

The schools are two days each with 12 hours of instruction, 3 hours per instructor and limited to 12 students per school at a cost of $2,000.  Again the schools are to raise money to go towards funding of Team USA expenses for international competition.  Two schools are planned, one in Texas and one in New Jersey (see flyer below for more detail):

We have obtained a prelim flyer for the 2012 European Compak Sporting Championship to take place May 24th-27th at Sarlospuszta Shooting Complex in Budapest Hungary.  Entries will be on FITASC.com.  Please always check with the event organizer that the information is accurate.

According to the FITASC website entries for the 2012 World FITASC Championship in Illinois will be available on January 9th.  Keep an eye out for our announcement of entries open here and on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

The 2012 World English Sporting Championship will be held in the UK in the beautiful Cotswolds area around Cheltenham (see interactive map below).  The event will take place August 1-5 and will be hosted at a number of ‘greenfield’ sites by The Clay Shooting Company.  The terrain is supposed to be very good and the area has never been used for clay pigeon shooting.  The event will consist of 200 English Sporting targets, prelims, FITASC and World Sportrap events.  Entries will open February 1st.  For more information see the CPSA website.

Registration for all side events and prelims at the 2012 World FITASC Championship is now open on the WinscoreOnline site.  Registration for the World Championship main event itself is not due to open until mid January.  The event is to be held August 16-19 at Northbrook Sports Club in Hainesville, Illinois.

Judy Morris has been selected as the National Sporting Clays Association Team USA’s new team manager.  Read the announcement from the NSCA below.  Judy has been a long time supporter of International Sporting Clays and we know she will do well in this new position.

Judy Morris of Hoboken, NJ, is the new team manager for NSCA Team USA. Morris replaces former Team USA manager, Jeff Demmon, who resigned recently after managing the team for four years.

Judy MorrisThe appointment was announced by Executive Council member Steve Schultz, chairman of the NSCA Advisory Council’s Awards Committee, which made the selection. “Judy has shown the ability to handle the job as a volunteer assistant to the previous team manager and is very familiar with the ins and outs of managing the teams,” said Schultz. “Her ability to provide seamless logistics to the team, coupled with her enthusiasm for fundraising, make Judy the perfect fit.”

Morris has been shooting sporting clays for seven years and registers about 4000 targets per year. “During that time, I have had the privilege of getting to know many of the past and present Team USA members,” she commented. “In 2008, I attended my first World FITASC event in Cyprus and was completely hooked on Team USA.”

The team manager serves as the liaison between Team USA members and the NSCA and is responsible for coordinating and managing the team for World Sporting and World FITASC events. The responsibilities include team competition coordination and planning, media relations, marketing, fundraising, management of team affairs, and all logistics and arrangements to field the teams.

“As team manager, my goals are to raise awareness of what Team USA is about so that NSCA members are proud to have a team and to demonstrate how the team can give back and help grow the sport,” Morris says. “To get the teams organized for the World Championships, there is an amazing amount of work involved – from filling the team slots to event registration, arranging travel, and securing gun permits – and I can’t wait to get started.”

Robert Crow, NSCA Director, also commented on the selection of Morris as the new Team USA manager. “Judy’s enthusiasm and expertise will make her a great team manager, and we’re pleased she has accepted this role,” he said. “On behalf of the association and previous teams, I also want to thank Jeff Demmon for serving the past four years in this position. Team USA made a great deal of progress and represented our association and our country well under his leadership.”
