Post image for 2010 World FITASC event is full and other updates.

The 2010 World FITASC Championships are full with over 1,000 shooters registered.  You may put yourself on the waiting list and FITASC will email when places become available.  There are usually quite a few that do so you should have a good chance getting in.  When places do become available you must hurry to the FITASC website and pay.  It’s on a first come, first serve basis.

A few days ago FITASC HQ issued an email stating that they have had a bug in their database system which has caused some of the information on the shooter cards to be lost.  It’s is not clear how exactly this affects shooters already registered to events but you most definitely should go to the site and follow the directions outlined in the email below.

Dear shooter,

A computer bug on our new internet website has wiped some of the data from your shooter card, including your home federation, licence number, disciplines practiced and brands of guns and ammunitions.

This bug has been corrected, but in order to validate your current bookings or make new ones, you must re-enter the missing information as follows:

1/ on the www.fitasc.com website, log in with your access codes then click on "modify my shooter’s card"

2/ in the "federation and licences" section, click on the red cross to the right of your home federation;

3/ an "are you sure?" window will open, click on "yes".

3/ you will then be able to re-select your federation(s), re-enter your licence number(s) and tick the disciplines practiced

4/ click on "next step", then fill in the guns and ammo information for each of the disciplines practiced

5/ click on "next step" and check the information entered in your shooter’s card is correct. Then click on "log on" or close your file.

Thank you for your understanding and your patience.

Yours truly.

Finally the Italians have made available the shotgun/ammo import forms and the invitation letter to the event.

The rules and regulations for gun and ammo according to the FITASC site.

A maximum of two shotguns and 1.000 cartridges (ed. airlines usually limit this to 100 max) are allowed to enter Italy.

Shooters, not holding a ‘European Firearms Certificate’ upon arrival at Italian airports must present to customs a completed official shotgun & ammunition import form, in order to obtain a temporary shotgun import permit, that the shooters must fill in and return to FIDASC by fax or email:

After FIDASC will return it by post to the shooter (clearly mention your address on the form). This permit form have to be shown to the Police and Customs in order to obtain a temporary gun licence.

On departure from Italy, this form will have to be returned at the Police station:  at the Border if they travel  by car, or at the airport in case they travel by plane.

Ammunition

The Italian Customs Authority will allow all participating shooters to import with them a maximum of 1.000 cartridges (per shooter) which will be used for the competition.
The use of steel pellets is not allowed. A wide range of local and international  ammunition  will be available for sale at the shooting club. (Baschieri & Pellagri, Fiocchi, R.C., Winchester, etc.)

You need to fill in the shotgun/ammo form and return it to FIDASC (the Italian Federation) ASAP.  They will then send the permit to you by mail.  Keep a copy of the form at home as well as take at least three copies along with you.  Also, keep a copy of the invite letter and take a couple along with you to be safe.

Residents of some countries may need a visa to enter Italy for the competition.  Residents of the U.S. and the E.U. do not.  If you are not sure you can check the following website.
